Jona Kümper has gained numerous national and international awards:

2008 Composition Prize of the city of Neuss

2012 third prize at the international Composition Competition Sofia,

2014 third prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University

2015 first prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University

2015 two third prizes at the VocalEspoo International Choral Composition Competition, Finland

2017 second prize at the VocalEspoo International Choral Composition Competition, Finland

2019 "Square dance" was selected to be performed during the Basel Composition Competition

2020 third prize at the Harald Genzmer Competition "Spielmusik", Munich

2020 third prize at theTapiola Choir International Choral Composition Competition

2021 third prize at the Carl-von-Ossietzky-Competition of Oldenburg University

2023 finalist at the Prix Annelie de Man, Amsterdam

2024 first prize at the Tapiola Choir International Choral Composition Competition

2024 second prize and prize from the audience at the Composition Competition "Gegenwart", Regensburg

Violeta Dinescu, Michael Jarell, Helmut Lachenmann, Magnus Lindberg, Isabel Mundry, Robert HP Platz, Wolfgang Rihm und Rebecca Saunders were among the jurys honoring his compositions.

His works were performed in Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Japan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Republik  and in the USA. A selection of the latter can be listened to at his Youtube channel. A selection of his works for choir can be obtained from choralworks.fi.

Jona Kümper held scholarships of the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westfalia (2021) and was funded by Musikfonds (2021, 2022, 2023).
